Hi there and thank you for entrusting me to capture this special time for you! I am beyond excited for our session and want to assure you that there is no need to overthink it! All we need to do is ensuring that the baby is:
a) Full and happy
b) Changed and happy
However, if you would like additional tips, I've outlined them for you below:
Space
Since we will be primarily shooting in the rooms that have the most light, I suggest to declutter the areas around the windows. However, no need to clean the whole house!
Wardrobe
When it comes to outfits, I suggest the parents to go with neutral relaxed clothes. Think earthy pastel colors and try to avoid bright loud colors that might change the skin tones (such as bright red or bright blue). I recommend minimalistic style without loud patterns. A simple maxi dress or a casual off-white sweater would work great for moms, while dads could go with a pair of jeans and a casual button-up, V-neck or a t-shirt.
Most important part is you feeling confident in what you are wearing.
As for your baby, you can have them in a cute onesie, outfit or wrapped in a blanket/wrap. You will also have an option to change outfits throughout the shoot.
Props
I provide a basket, a couple of options for blankets and wraps that we can swaddle the baby into for the solo shots.
However, since this is a candid lifestyle photoshoot that features the connection between parents and the baby, I like keeping props to a minimum. It's all about telling your beautiful story as honestly as we can :)
